On the Founder.

Through the course of two years, I’ve had the opportunity to watch this random guy transform from a college grad exploding with ambition and charisma to a man who took a nameless group of individuals and employed his passion to develop one of the most amazing companies I believe this country will ever see. Words cannot touch how incredible it has been to watch his vision evolve into MyTown Music.
In my experience as a member of this company, it is impossible to deny the sense of wonder MyTown Music creates. It begins with the students’ curiosity which is then empowered by their facilitator. This carries on into their group sessions which leads to their final showcases — but it doesn’t stop there. Our students go on to create their own bands and grow beyond our program. They stay curious and explore new realms of music as well as themselves. They begin to see themselves as artists: composing their own music, writing their own songs, recognizing the power they have in their own voices. Facilitators express everyday how amazed they are at what their students are doing and eagerly share them with parents and on-lookers.
As amazing as MyTown Music is now, Corey continues to push for music education in other cities and states by putting on assemblies for schools so that their administrators can see just how powerful music is. The constant push for emphasis on music education is what drives the culture of the company.
Now our company is comprised of young adults, most still in college bursting with the same energy Corey once had (and continues to have). I don’t think he realized just how much of a leader he would have to become to see his dreams to reality. Yet he never fails at stepping up, doing what needs to be done, never afraid to ask for help or advice. He leads each meeting and ends with a simple “I appreciate you.”
It is this foundation of ambition, charisma and humility that this director of facilitation provides in his words and actions. Perhaps this is the formula that anyone who wants success looks for - these simple principles drawn up from a simple guy in Tucson, AZ.
So in honor of my first real blog post, I wanted to recognize this extraordinary leader, respectable mentor, and incredible friend. I wanted to share a moment with you readers to express my gratitude for his hard work. It can never be said enough (and perhaps isn’t said enough already), but a simple “thank you,” goes a long way for a person who does his best to lead others in a positive direction.
Thank you for an unforgettable journey - one that I hope to share with my community. Thank you for your leadership - a leadership I carry with me beyond professional settings. Thank you for your passion - a passion that the future can only hope to keep alive.
And finally, thank you for trusting us, the MtM family, to carry out your vision.
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” John Quincy Adams
Thank you, Corey Ferrugia.
…. and to think that THIS is only the beginning….
