On Opportunity
I was told in high school to get involved in things to make my college application look better. I was told in college to get involved in things to make my business school application look better. I was told in business school to get involved to make my job application look better.
You were right.
But you changed me.
Addiction.
I am addicted to opportunity.
It’s a drug. It’s a drug that keeps on giving. Her empty needle, is my unsharpened sword. I stab I stab, but I can’t puncture. But with this, I can puncture. I can puncture the deepest layer of my self. My self worth. Adding value is a term commonly used in business school to assess if a project is worth starting. I assess opportunity with adding value. Inject me with value.
Scenario: Someone gives me an opportunity to make a name for myself. Grow my skill set. Immediately I say yes. I can tell within an instance if it will add value to my true being. People on the outside see me as too busy. People on the outside have their own added values. This is mine. MyTown is mine.
Four months in and have not looked back.
I can sit in the lab, with a pen and a pad, trying to justify everything I do. But it doesn’t work. I can sit in the lab, with a pen and a pad, trying to explain to everyone what I do and why I do it. But it doesn’t work. The real reason I sit in the lab, with a pen and a pad, is to get people to my level.
You.
The reader.
The soul who has gravitated to this blog, because why?
Do you see value in MyTown? Do you see value in adding activities to enrich your own life? Do you see value in working tirelessly for something you believe?
MyTown is built on this fundamental statement. They say surround yourself with like minded people. They were right. There is not one person in the fleet of personalities, brains, and energies that make up MyTown who answered “no” to any of those questions.
This is my call to action. Enrich yourself. Bury yourself in the ground up to your neck. Spread your roots wide and far. Pick up nutrients and opportunities along the way.
Don’t grow. Flourish. Go forth.
We provide hope for music education. We provide hope for music. We provide hope for. We provide hope. We provide. We. You. You can. You can help.
